The Patterson-Miller-Brennaman House, c. 1901.
282 Kennesaw Avenue
Originally this property was part of the Archibald Howell Plantation and was cut from the portion he sold to Laura Brumby in 1882. In 1901, a young widow, Elizabeth Cottingham Patterson, purchased the lot at 306 (now 282) Kennesaw Avenue and built this “American Four-Square” style house.
In 1916, she traveled to France to work with the American Red Cross during World War I. At that time she sold the house to E.D.C. Hames. In 1927, Thomas R. Brumby, president of the Brumby Chair Company, purchased the property. The house changed hands again in 1932 when J.R. Miller purchased it and it remained in the Miller family for 60 years. Tim Raasch & Michael Motes bought the house in 1992. The house was totally renovated in 2007 and purchased by the current owners, Robyn & Paul Brennaman.
