Volunteer to be a Docent
A docent is a person who is a knowledgeable guide and will provide visitors with commentary of the homes on the pilgrimage tour. If you volunteer to be a docent, you will be given literature about the home you are working in, so that you can become knowledgeable of the history of the home.

Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions

Wear: Recommended attire for the tour is "festive casual." Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes.  No high-heels are allowed in the homes for the protection of the flooring.  Consider wearing layers – our beautiful old houses can be drafty or warm depending on the weather and the crowds!

Bring: A watch and a smile! Bottled water will be provided.

Parking: Parking is available at the Welcome Center and at various locations near the Square, including the parking decks, which are free on the weekends. You may walk or ride the Tour Shuttle to your house. Towing will be enforced to allow for traffic flow. Here is a helpful link to see the shuttle service hours and nearby parking locations ---> Map & Schedule

Your Free Ticket: Don't forget to pick up your complimentary tour ticket from the Welcome Center. You may pick up your ticket before your shift, which is recommended if you're planning to Docent an afternoon or Sunday shift.
